Collated over decades of exploring Morocco, the 3250-km Trans Morocco Trail from Nador to Cap Draa Atlantic, and the new for 2026, 900km High Atlas Traverse along the Atlas watershed are both free to download.

Each time any section of either route gets modified, the entire map is updated by v0.1 and a new gpx file is generated at the link.

The TMT is divided into 25 Stages A to Z and the H.A.T has 4½ stages, all coloured alternately for clarity. Broadly speaking, a stage goes from one fuel and lodging place to the next and is doable in a day. But you may be faster or slower, and the H.A.T has long stages.

GPX

The Google My Maps custom map platform we use is free and easy, but uses Google’s proprietary kml file format. All nav devices (Garmins) and phones/tablets use the universal gpx format which is bigger in mbs and has its own icons so will look different but displays identical information.

We appreciate the work of nav app coding boffin, Emile de B in creating a comprehensive TMT/H.A.T gpx page on his website, enabling route downloading in the universal gpx format.

Note his caveats: the full TMT gpx exceeds 6.5mb which can disagree with some mapping apps. The H.A.T gpx file is about 4mb. But like the selectable Google My Map layers, you can download either in several parts to make smaller files. Meanwhile, the original TMT/H.A.T Google Maps are always viewable on this website anywhere online.
