Many of the stages on the Trans Morocco Trail were discovered in 2023-4 by Chris while researching the 4th edition of Morocco Overland. In print since 2009, for 2025 Morocco Overland 4 is a major update, describing in detail over 20,000km of trails all over southern Morocco, many of which are parts of the TMT.

Morocco Overland 4 is not a guidebook for the Trans Morocco Trail, and you do not need it to follow the TMT.

But the book does cover nearly all of the Trail west of Erg Chebbi and has background information, photos, maps, terrain details which a gpx tracklog cannot supply, as well as another 17,000km of routes. Once you discover Morocco via the TMT, the book can help take you to the next level, or give you ideas to branch off the TMT.
